Live Music in the Bay Islands

There are so many reasons to love an island vacation, but live music in the Bay Islands is absolutely a great reason to love this holiday. What's better than dancing in the sand with people from all over the world, all while listening to local musicians doing what they love? That's why we love it!

In the Bay Islands, you'll find lots of people doing what they love every single day. And on all three islands - Guanaja, Roatan, and Utila - you'll find your own reason to love local music. You'll find an incredibly eclectic mixture of sounds from around the world, as local beats start jamming with expats and tourists who bring a new idea to the stage. And the blend is simply marvelous.

Depending on the time of year and the island you're on, you'll find anything from an EDM festival to a random jamfest, a steel drum band to a country musician from Nashville. You'll hear Jack Johnson covers bookended by covers of Bob Marley and Pearl Jam. There's something for everyone - including the universally hated yet undeniably enjoyable karaoke.

Annual Music Events in the Bay Islands

There are a few annual music events in the islands that you might want to plan a trip around:

Utila: SunJam, held every August, will celebrate its 20th year in 2016. This iconic music festival brings revelers to a private island for a sundown-to-sunrise party on the beach.

Roatan: Modular REEF (Roatan Electronic Experience Festival), held every May on Big French Cay on Roatan's south shore. This is a newer annual festival with a focus on being environmentally friendly - even asking attendees to also participate in a coastal clean-up.

Roatan: Music Festival for the Angels, held every March in Sandy Bay. This event raises money for two of the island's popular charities: Clinica Esperanza and SOL International Foundation.

Weekly Live Music in the Bay Islands

Whether these annual events interest you or not, there are tons of opportunities to enjoy more live music during your visit to the Bay Islands. Be sure to ask your vacation rental manager or your hotel concierge staff for the schedule while you're on vacation.

There are multiple venues where you can catch live music during the day or after sunset both in Roatan and Utila, while in Guanaja you'll have to ask around a bit more. But wherever you are in the islands, music is sure to be a part of daily life! We know you'll enjoy the island vibes.
