The holiday season is a wonderful time of year in the Bay Islands. From annual events and gatherings to charitable giving and community endeavors, the Bay Islands know how to celebrate and support each other. If you're considering visiting us, plan a trip during the holiday season in the Bay Islands. You won't regret it!
Visit the Bay Islands
The Bay Islands offer something for everyone. If you want to escape the winter cold and dig your toes into powdery white sand, this is your dream destination. It's easy to get to the Bay Islands via flights into the Roatan international airport and then connections to Utila or Guanaja if that's your final destination.
If you love scuba diving or snorkeling, the Bay Islands are truly a world-class destination for you to explore. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef encircles the Bay Islands of Honduras, offering stunning coral reef topography and fascinating marine life to observe. Over the holiday season, you might even be graced with the presence of a whale shark or two!
It's not all underwater play in the Bay Islands, though. You can enjoy hiking and botanical gardens, or zipline canopy tours and uncovering the history of the Bay Islands (filled with pirates, blending cultures, and battles!).
Holiday Season in the Bay Islands
The holiday season is an especially good time to visit the Bay Islands for several reasons. We know what winter weather is like up north, and by the time the holiday season rolls around, many of you are just tired of it already! The Bay Islands experience the winter blues, but not like you do up north. No, we have blues and aquas and teals as far as the eye can see! We know you'll enjoy our winter blues.
The holidays are also a great time to enjoy the wonderfully supportive community on the Bay Islands. From annual celebrations to festive meals and parties at bars and restaurants throughout the islands, we know how to enjoy a happy time of year!
We also know how to support each other and to remember that the holidays are also a time of giving. There are fundraising events and wonderful parties thrown for all the children of the islands, filled with gifts, shared food, and joy. It's a wonderful time of year to see the eclectic community of Bay Islands residents come together as neighbors and friends.
Advice for Visiting During the Holidays
If you visit the Bay Islands during the holiday season, be sure to book your accommodations well in advance. This is a very busy time of year for tourism, and we want you to have your first choice to where to stay! If you plan to scuba dive, you should also book with a dive center as early as possible as they will all be very busy over the holidays. There are no days off in the tourism industry here!
The holiday season is a great time to contact local charitable organizations and offer to bring in-kind donations from home. Medical supplies, school supplies, sports equipment are typical donations sought throughout the year. If you're in a particularly giving and festive mood, reach out to an organization before your vacation to see what their current needs may be.
Once you arrive for your holiday, you might also want to book any other activities or restaurants to ensure you don't miss out on anything you especially want to enjoy. Other than that, have fun and happy holidays!
Be sure to send some photos to your friends and family back home...we especially like to see sandmen instead of snowmen, sand angels instead of snow angels, and stockings hung from palm trees. Don't forget to use #go2roatan in all your fun holiday photos!
