Activities for the Kids

A vacation to the Bay Islands offers a huge variety of activities for the kids. Whether your family wants to stay in the water every day or mix it up with some activities on land, too, the Bay Islands have it all.

For Young Kids

If you're looking for a few great ideas for your young kids, take a look at the many animal parks and botanical gardens throughout the islands. You'll find places where your kids can learn about and interact with gorgeous macaws, frisky monkeys, and happy dolphins. There are also several locations for a walk through botanical gardens where kids can smell tropical flowers and learn about local fruit trees. Make sure they also look out for lots of cute little critters scurrying about!

A great way to get your really young kids underwater safely is a glass-bottom boat tour. You can relax inside a comfortable boat as you very slowly travel above the coral reef. Your kids will love getting views of brightly colored fish - and maybe even a scuba diver or two.

For Older Kids

If your kids are older and looking for more of an adrenaline rush, head to one of the many zipline canopy tours to fly through the jungle and down to the beach. There are also tons of snorkel tours you can take as a family, offering several hours out on a boat with the chance to safely snorkel in a unique area. Some tours offer food and drinks, most will have some music to liven up your day as well. These are especially fun for families with a wide range of ages so everyone can have a great time.

For the Whole Family

A vacation to the Bay Islands wouldn't be complete without learning more about local culture. Enjoy an island tour from a local guide as you take in the scenery and learn about the history of the area. You can cater the tour to your family's particular tastes. So if you all want to snorkel you can stop at a few great spots along the way; if you want the best views and to see every corner of the island, you can request that instead.

Family Fun After Dark

The day doesn't end when the sun sets in the Bay Islands! Ask locally for a schedule of live music or outdoor movies to watch right on the beach. Your kids will have a blast dancing around in the sand, and a movie on the beach is a great way to still take in some fresh air while the kids get entertained.

After all, you'll want a few minutes to yourself at the end of an action-packed day in the islands!
